Early Life
Born on November 5, 1988, in Delhi, India, Virat started playing cricket as a child. He would often get into street cricket games with other kids from his neighborhood, making up his own rules along the way. His father noticed how good he was and bought him a new bat for Christmas one year when he was nine years old.
He joined the local team in Delhi after completing school so that he could hone his skills even more. It didn’t take long before scouts began showing up at matches to watch this amazing kid play.
He eventually signed with Mumbai Indians where he became an overnight sensation, winning many championships including the Indian Premier League twice!
In 2013, he was honored with the Arjuna Award by the government of India. That same year, his world turned upside down when he met Anushka Sharma, who he later married.
With her support and encouragement, his career really took off becoming one of the best batsmen of all time. They have two children together, son Azhar and daughter Sara. They live in Mumbai while still maintaining their home in Delhi.
He is now recognized around the world as one of the most elite athletes and is admired not only for his abilities but also for his generous spirit.
